Gemstones have been been a traditional source of wealth in a number of Asian countries, mostly Myanmar and Cambodia. Gemstones have made some people rich, but not the countries were they originated from. On the contrary, gemstones have fuelled wars, and brought great suffering to natove populations. At any rate, gemstones are an overrated option to store wealth.
